Well it was quite the birthday week for Jaylon. We began the festivities by sending him to school with some birthday cupcakes made by Brooke. I was able to go to the school and hang out with him for cupcake time and the last hour of school. It was a lot of fun...he had so much to show me!
That afternoon, we drove to KC where we picked up our tickets for Disney On Ice! We headed over to Maureen's house for some down time and a delicious birthday dinner. JJ had requested muffins from Aunt Maureen for his birthday, so she had a fresh batch of chocolate chip muffins on hand. The boys had lots of fun playing with Gator (the roommate's Belgian Shepherd) and goofing off with Toby.
The show was very impressive to the boys. We had pretty good seats and a lot of the Disney songs were familiar. JJ was even clapping his hands and dancin in Momma's lap at one point. They were out in minutes for the drive home.
Friday, everyone took the morning off to recuperate from the late night. Then it was time to start preparing for the parties. On Saturday, Mom and Dad came down in the morning with lots of fun treats and presents. The sidewalk chalk was a hit and got the kids out into the fresh air for a while. We had a great morning just hanging out at the house and then enjoyed some delicious broccoli cheese soup. That afternoon, we had a little birthday party at Peter Pan Park. There were 5 or 6 kids there and they all had fun at the playground before having neon super sour gummy worm cupcakes (another Brooke creation). Opened some great gifts and then headed home for naps.
On Sunday, Bob and Val, Aunt Lauren and Uncle Will came over for a late afternoon final birthday bash. We made JJ a cake with a rocket ship on it and opened presents again! As usual, Aunt Lauren was good for some chasing laps around the house and lots of tickling. JJ got a little spiderman scooter, which he now uses to get around the house instead of walking.
All in all, it was a great weekend that really made our little guy feel special. I think it was a great experience for him to be the center of attention a little bit, since he frequently spends time in his big brother's shadow. Thank you to everyone for loving him so much.
